One of my favorite things to do is change my wallpaper. Now I’m taking about changing by desktop wallpaper. I find that an amazing desktop background can really make my day and calm me after that crazy phone call. Also with a widescreen display, its almost like have a picture frame on your desktop. I’ve even taken it a step further with a dual display. I use a program called Display Fusion to really step things up with my dual display and desktops. It does an excellent job at managing displays and tweaking things. Sometimes, it feels like they are updating it every week, but that’s a good thing. You can scale, stretch, crop, and tile your wallpaper across both display. Its just a pretty cool app. It also lets you pull images from various image databases. Speaking of image databases, my favorite is wallbase.cc. It is one of the best places to find desktop wallpapers. The quantity of images is sick. I use to be a big deviantart.com guy, but the ads got on my nerves. Also, I couldn’t tell if it was marketplace, subscription site, or a free database. But it’s still worth a look.
Yes, I think the upgrade is very worth it. The slick new user interface and quickness made it a must for me. A few things I noticed:
Make sure you backup all your images. On my iPad, it told me it needed an additional 2.5 Gigs in order to install.
It wanted to conect my facetime account with my email and my phone number. I know its always been that way, but the wording was a little confusing. Maybe this one was just me.
Battery Life..or lack of.
The battery on my iPhone 5, was at 50%, by noon (thats would 100% at 8am). Things got better after I disabled wireless and bluetooth. It got much better when I reduced the brightness. This site helped me out: iOS 7 Battery Life Draining Too Fast? It’s Easy to Fix
Here are some good links to help you get the most out of IOS7:
I’m been a user of MyFav.es for some years. If you aren’t familiar with MyFav.es its a start page consisting of buttons leading to your favorite sites. I use it on all my desktops and browsers. It makes life much simpler by keeping a launchpad of all my favorite links. Until now I couldn’t get it to work with my phones or tablets, but the latest update has fixed that. A new responsive design adapts to any screen size.
Also, they have added a ton of new favorites, and if you can’t find one then you can create your own. I’m not sure how popular this tool it, but I swear by it and the latest updates make it a must try. One suggestion would be if they got social and let you share your start page with other people.
If you haven’t heard of IFTTT, you need check it out .IFTTT (pronounce “ift”) is a service that basically lets you…well. Put it this way IFTTT stand for IF This Than That. Which means I can create little scripts or recipes that do little IF statements. So for example, I want to post every Facebook status to Linkin, then I can create a little recipe for that.
I know many people will say “Well I can already do that”, and you can, but IFTTT makes it super easy. So think of the possibilities. Want to tweet every time you add a new picture to Facebook. Or maybe you want to have a text sent every morning to tell you how great you are…we have a recipe for that. With an IOS app, that makes things so much easier, this is a must try. Here is a list of some of my recipes.
Check it out. See what kind of crazy and useful recipes you can create.
Someone once told me “if you got something to say…just say it.” So here I go….I’m a technical freak from Alabama..yes Alabama. I’ve worked in IT in some form for the past 20 years..From Massachusetts to Alabama. And I’ve loved every minute of it. I worked at a help desk, been a Vice President and own a few online businesses. So am I a geek…not really sure..actually I hate the term. What does that mean? I’m including it in the domain, because I thought it was catchy. I tried blogging years ago, but I decided to stop and focus on making money on the web. So, I’m back..a little wiser and much more focused. I’ll have a mixture in this experiment. I’ll post about my experience with ringcentral or reading 80/20. So that’s it Ya’ll! Lets get started
